Gina Paul's Notes
Joseph Campos
Director Of Admissions (Mr. Campos was promoted to this position on October 30,
2007) Mr. Campos has been with Johnson & Wales for 13 years. Congratulations Mr.
Campos on your new position.
Grant Recipient, Joseph Berta
Joseph is from Strongsville Ohio; he came to Charlotte, North Carolina last fall
to attend Johnson & Wales. In the spring of 2008 he will complete his Associates
Degree in Culinary Arts.
Joseph plans to continue on with Johnson & Wales to earn his Bachelors Degree in
Food Service Management. Then when Joseph has completed this part of his dream
he will move on to further his career goals by earning his Associates Degree in
Baking & Pastries.
Joseph started his path to where he is today around the age of 8, by helping
out, watching and learning everything he could about cooking and creating meals
for his family from his family.
Joseph has no one item that he prefers to prepare, no one favorite dish, he
finds he enjoys every different ingredient and exotic foods to create different
dishes that are pleasing and memorable to the sight, smell & palate.
Joseph was asked what he likes to do when he isn’t in classes or studying and he
stated that on weekends he participates in what is called “Chef’s Choice” which
is a class that teaches Community cooking classes. He is also a member of the
CAT team, which provides Campus tours, and he is also an RA - which is a Campus
Resident Assistant.
Joseph has his goals set and from meeting him today I do not doubt he will
obtain them all. He is very serious about his future and very dedicated about
getting it done. For what it is worth this young man impressed me fully with his
knowledge & passion for all aspects of the culinary world.
Respectfully,
Gina Paul
Administrator Notes: Gina and her husband (the man behind the camera) traveled
quite a way to make this meeting and we are very grateful for that. We thank you
for your continued active participation in this program.
Pam and I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Joseph Campos last March when we
were in Charlotte to help judge the Johnson and Wales High School Chef of the
Year Competition. We congratulate him on his recent promotion. We were impressed
with his commitment to the students then and wish him well.
