FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 2008 Chefs4Students.org Culinary Grant Winners Announced
Steamboat Springs, Colorado, USA – April 1, 2008 – Chefs4Students.org today
announced the winners of the April, 2008 culinary grants. The program previously
known as the Chef2Chef.net Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 to assist
culinary students in need of financial assistance. In that time, nearly $75,000
has been awarded to future culinarians in the form of $1,000 grants.
For the 2007 - 2008 academic years, Chefs4Students.org has received more than
1300 applications from students at over 45 different culinary schools across the
country and abroad. Eligible students must attend a culinary school at the time
of the award, show proof of their financial need, provide letters of
recommendation, transcripts and a 500-word essay.
The reviewing panel consisted of eighteen certified chefs, executive chefs,
business executives and culinary professionals from various organizations across
the globe. We are pleased to award six Chefs4Students.org $1,000.00 grants to
the following students:
• Rae Anne Pavlovic, The Institute of Culinary Education, NY
• Jacqueline Hubschman, Asheville Buncombe Technical College, NC
• Courtney Slipko, Johnson & Wales University, NC
• Rebecca Frankowski, YTI Career Institute, PA
• Steve Bookbinder, Culinary Institute of America, NY
• Amy Hammontree, Culinary School of Colorado, Pikes Peak
A seventh Chefs4Students.org grant was awarded today in the name of The
Reluctant Gourmet, who generously sponsored a grant in our program this past
year. The recipient of that grant is:
· Ja’Lisa
McKeown, International Culinary School of Arts, MI
Funds for the
seven April 2008 grants were generated by the proceeds of the fourth annual
fundraising dinner and silent auction put on by Chef Florian Wehrli in Windsor,
Colorado, The Reluctant Gourmet, private donations, corporate sponsorships and
product donations, cookbook sales, private functions and the dedication and
generosity of chefs and like-minded culinarians from around the world.
Without the dedication of the participating chefs, this program would not exist.
